If you are looking for a horse that is TRULY a family horse, your search is over! For sale is our Hrafnakell or Rafi (his stable name) - A six years old dark brown labrador, uhum, gelding, born in Iceland, exported when we bought him at age 4. Rafi is the most friendly-curious-thinking-playful guy you will ever meet! He is the first one at the gate to greet you, happy to be near you 1000% at the time and yet he respects boundaries and is very calm. He has been around and ridden by children, first time riders have ridden him on loose rein on an open beach, he can be ridden easily alone or in the group on any terrain. He is relaxed and not spooky, therefore perfect for insecure riders, children and honestly, anyone. Zero worries about cars, trucks, dogs etc. Since he is still on the young side, we would nevertheless recommend that an older family member supervises and gets to know him first. Rafi has medium will, but he is obedient: he will go as fast or as slow as you ask him to. We have even been skiing behind him! Rafi loves swimming and water, and he can be showered under the hose. Gives hooves without a problem. He trailers easily, as we have trailered him to places to ride out. He eats any supplement you will give him, even the most strange tasting ones (gladly gobbles up a whole garlic piece!). Rafi has been preventively blanketed in the past 2 summers and has no signs of summer eczema. He has never had an injury. He has had annual dentist, regular hoof-trims, all vaccinations and deworming. Rafi is 5-gaited, has a great walk and easy tölt. He is on the pacey side but with regular riding and shoeing will definitely improve. He doesn't do a very convincing trot, so that will be a task for the new owners. He is around 146cm at withers, so big enough to carry anyone. I (the rider in the snowy riding pictures) am 182cm tall and he is a great size for me. Why such a long description? Because we believe that he would make the most amazing family horse and we would want to give him that. This horse has the heart of a dog and he deserves owners that can see it! The only reason we need to sell our buddy, is because he would not be suitable for higher level competing... and trust us, many tears will be shed when it's time for him to go. Right now he lives outside 24/7 in a small herd and we would like him to go to a similar place. Upon request we can provide endless proof of his great personality, friendliness, as well as (ridden) videos. Rafi is currently located in Latvia but we can help arrange his transport to anywhere in Europe.
