Description

Ofotan is an exceptionally kind and trustworthy Icelandic gelding looking for his perfect family. He is the type of horse that is incredibly hard to find: safe, patient, uncomplicated, and happy to take care of both children and adults. In the arena, Ofotan is an absolute dream for children and families. He is ridden in walk, trot, and canter and is incredibly forgiving with his riders. Kids can ride him, groom him, handle him, and simply enjoy spending time with him. He is the kind of horse you can trust to stay calm and sensible through just about any situation. He is equally suitable for adults and would be a wonderful horse for a family where several different people would like to ride and enjoy the same horse. Ofotan is not ridden in tölt, so he is best suited to someone who is happy with a very safe and uncomplicated three-gaited Icelandic horse. Out on the trails, he still needs some further work and confidence when ridden independently. However, he is great when being ponied outside, making him a lovely option for children who want to start gaining experience outside the arena in a safe way. With continued training, his trail riding can be developed further. His handling is just as easy as his riding. He has excellent ground manners, stands well for the farrier, loads and travels in the trailer, and has no known vices or eczema. Ofotan would be perfect for a family searching for a safe, sweet, and dependable Icelandic horse primarily for children, arena riding, and simply enjoying time together. Unfortunately, his current young rider has lost interest in horses, which is the only reason this lovely gelding is looking for a new family.
