UNDRA goes Landsmót!
UNDRA has been online since February 2022 and of course we will be present at the Icelandic national horse competition, the largest event in Iceland around the Icelandic horse! This year it’s going to be held in the south of Iceland from 3. – 10. of July. So Hella, here we come!
Landsmót took place for the first time in 1950 and since then has been attracting many interested people every two years. Both breeding and sport tests as well as the traditional “Gæðingakeppni” can be admired! At Gæðingakeppni, the focus of the competition is primarily on the horse. The qualities of the horse, its willingness to go forward and its spirit are judged. Character and charisma are also important for the evaluation.
In 2020, Landsmót had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 and this year, thousands of visitors are finally expected again. What an event!
Our UNDRA team can be met at our stand in the market tent and we are very happy to bring the idea and concept around UNDRA even closer to the international Icelandic horse community!
In addition to information and the possibility of a personal conversation, there will also be small surprises at our tent…

A land of fire and ice, with more sheep than inhabitants, characterized by a unique nature! This is just a brief description of such a diverse country. While a volcano may erupt on one side of the country, you can hike a glacier, admire the Northern Lights, or take a bath in a hot spring on the other side of the country - at the same time.
This not only speaks for diversity, but also for spontaneity, which is also reflected in the changeable weather in Iceland. A popular Icelandic saying is "If you do not like the current weather, just wait for five minutes".
In contrast to this inconsistency, one thing is constant and that is the enthusiasm for Icelandic horses! The Vikings brought horses to the island in the 9th century.
